When the USDM Honda Fit made its debut in 2007, the design had already aged quite significantly. The JDM Fit went on sale in 2001, and all of us were awaiting word of a new version.
The 2009 Honda Fit was revealed earlier this month at the New York Auto Show.
The new Fit has something for everyone, including a first-in-class voice recognition GPS/Navigation with Ipod inputs.
The car will be powered by a new 1.5L engine (with inline VTEC) that nudges up power to 118 hp (from 109 hp) at 6,000 RPM to 107 pounds of torque at 4,800 RPM.
The overall dimensions have changed. Wheelbase was 96.4 and now 98.4; length has been increased by 2.2 inches to 53.5 inches and the Fit's track is 0.8 wider! But make no mistake: the Fit has not gone the way of the Civic. The overall weight is only 22 pounds more than its predecessor!
However, will the torison beam suspension jump from the previous generations rear end to this model? If you have any information (or shots from under the car) - let us know!
