Honda Mugen Si, half baked sports car

We here at Honda Tuning love the Civic Si sedan.

Well, anything with a K20 in it is fun, right? And when we heard about the Mugen Si, I thought it was only natural it would follow in its footsteps. However, at 8k more than its younger brother, the Mugen only leaves us scratching our heads.

Many thought that a bigger 4 pots in front, a upgrade in power, etc., was in store, but all we got was a cosmetic package with a slightly upgraded suspension. (Devoid of coilovers, because Mugen doesn't make any.) Not to mention a car that thieves will do anything to steal!

Our friends at Sport Compact Car also feel the same way, and posted this article:

Ricer Bling or real improvement?

Will this car keep its value like the Integra Type R, or be quickly forgotten like the EP3? What do you guys think?

1. Well, here's the deal I went into my local dealer to buy a Si, and as dealers do they played to may games. So I went to a bigger dealer and they had a Mugen in the showroom when I explained that I wasinterested in a Si he said the manager was looking to move the Mugen because they felt no one was going to pay 30 grand for a Civic. They gave me a good price on a Si and a even better price on the Mugen. They sold me the Mugen for 25,500. Can you say BIG time mark up if their trying to sell one for 30 grand. The rest is history.

3. 25k is a great deal man, and I think if you were to drive it and sell it in a couple years, you could get close to the same!

But @ 30k, its much different!

4. It was hard to pass that one up. The way I looked at it, by the time I spent all the money on ground effect kit, paint, 18 wheels and tires I would be close if not over the amount. My son has 2 years of high school left, and he said that would make a great graduation present. I said sure if your mom would let me get the Civic RR. I guess time will tell.

5. I agree with you. If you are into custom cars instead of goig for the oem look you would be better buying a mugen or even better wait for the Civic RR. I would prefer if the mugen version instead of concentrating on cosmetic upgrades would have concentrated on performance upgrades. That will really kick A@#$$*

6. Think of a Spoon version of the civic Si! I bet it would pump at least 40 hp to the wheels and be 200 pounds lighter!

7. wow i have a mugen and i bought the car for 35k but i like my mugen cause it's the only one around my town ....................
