1. I've been posting about this earlier. I swear there is something off with 3rd gear in particular. It has a constant problem in engaging. I've asked other owners personally and they agreed it will "click" into place at times after a bit of a forcing or simply grind it out.

2. 2007 civic si transmission just smooth shifting, however 6th is a bit notchy maybe because of the lockout solenoid [that lets 6th be reverse] I hope this is one of thoes things that gets better as it "beds in with wear"

3. I have taken my 07 SI to the dealer twice for this problem. They tell me no issues??? Im glad I found this site...good info! Im having the same problem as #1 posted...Im having a problem with third gear engagement and to be quite honest first and second arent really up to par when doing minor downshifting to turn a corner.

4. I have a 2008 Civic Mugen SI, with only 300 miles, and I do feel it's a little hard getting into 3rd and 6th. I was hoping that it was just a new car thing and it was going to be ok after I put some miles on it. This car also jerks a little when cold.Does anyone else feel this problem? It goes away after warm up.

5. I've got the 07 Civc SI Sedan and have also noticed that 3rd can be somewhat a problem. At times you have to push in twice, others, it's ok. Also had it pop out of gear. Going this weekend for to dealer, I'll ask about it.

6. Is there anyone out there that knows the TSB bulletin number? It would be great to have when you go to the dealer for this issue! Mine popped out of third yesterday. Im going to the dealer and would love to have some type of backup when they tell me "NO PROBLEMS" again. 4thHonda, I see you were going to check, any luck?

8. Getting into third gear can be difficult and sometimes I'll think it's in gear and will pop out into neutral. If I'm careful and at the right revs it's fine but I have to start to baby my 2 to 3 shifts. In the current issue of Road and Track they did a long term test result of a civic 6 speed and had the same complaint.

9. I have an 05 Accord coupe with a 6 speed. It now has 50,000 miles on it. I have had intermittent problems engaging 3rd gear since I bought the car. I took it to the dealer at 5,000, 17000, and 34,000 miles. They told me nothing was wrong. Finally, one of the mechanics believed me and when he took it for a test drive he noticed the problem. That was August 2007. The service manager got involved and has been in contact with the Honda Field representative. They claim a fix is on the way but the proposed date keeps changing. It was originally December 2007. This car has been a major disappointment due to this problem. I have had several close calls when I counted on 3rd gear acceleration only to be in neutral. Honda has apparently been aware of this problem for years but did not acknowledge it. Perhaps a class action suit would help. Any comments.

10. look on edmunds.com/road tests/558 it says service bulletin #1205 nhtsa item #10018868 summary description- transmission grinds at shifts skip shifting.*tt the respondent says this bulletin is from 2005 but concerns this problem.

11. In response to mugen2008, I have a 2007 Civic Si Sedan with 8000 miles, and it also jerks when cold. The car will even move forward on its own if i engage first gear, until it warms up. Also, I was thinking it was my own fault with 3rd gear being finnicky until I came across this forum. There's DEFINITELY an issue with 3rd gear.

12. I was reading Road and Track's long term test on the latest civic si this weekend, and they as well commented on a pronounced difficulty with the acctuation of third gear. I am guessing a combo of the electronic throttle(also a occasionally referenced criticism) and the synchro sizing.

13. So, with all of us complaining about this "DEFINITE" problem...how do we get a solution. I recently called Honda and they gave me a very legal answer about the recalls being VIN specific. They didn't answer the question at all and said there were no problems at this time. HOW CAN WE FIX IT? There's nothing worse than knowing you're driving it right, but getting disengaged from gear when you need it to be there!

14. See my post above.
This weekend I changed my trans fluid to GM Sychomesh and I think my issue is resolved. I'm really very happy. I really didn't want a tech pulling my trans and messing with it by replacing parts and then reinstalling. When I drained the trans I didn't see a problem with metal filings in the old fluid. The owners manual has a diagram of the drain plug and a smaller full plug about 2 inches above the drain plug and then the fill plug which is a large plug accessed from the top. Pretty easy to do. The new fluid (three qts, gm dealer) was expensive at $14 per quart but knowing that the issue seems to be resolved, it's a bargin.

15. I have taken my 06 SI to the dealer three times for this problem. They tell me no issues??? Even had the District Manager drive for two days while they rented me a Ford Focus. The first two times they told me it was the performance aspect of the car. HA HA, my other car is a 350Z, and my previous Honda was a Civic EX. The second time the service expert told me that it would smooth out in time, I told him I can't believe that Honda would like that response. Im glad I found this site...good info! Im having the same problem as #1 posted...Im having a problem with third gear engagement, to the extent of even popping out to nuetral and to be quite honest first and second arent really up to par when doing minor downshifting to turn a corner.
This going to my Honda Dealer. Glad its not just me!!!
