Where does the 2008 Honda Accord fit into today's growing markets?

I've owned three Hondas in my life, and my first car was a 1987 Honda Accord LX.  Complete with 13-inch steelies and power windows.   (A luxury back then!)  Since then, I've owned a 1994 accord (5th generation) and then downsized to a Honda Civic Hybrid.  (I have my eyes on an '85, EA Civic Si in the near future - which will get the standard, Rodstration treatment!)

The 2008 Honda Accord is a whole new game.  At first glance, the sedan looks like a BMW 5 series.  And does it with grace.  The 2007 Toyota Camry v6 - with almost identical specs - has nothing on the Accord's interior.  But will the tuner community take on the task of modifying this new beast?  The 7th gen had almost no takers - is this car also headed that way?

And with a diesel version in its future - Honda has its aim for the masses.

Then I came this Temple of VTEC vid -  a 8th gen, 2008 Honda Accord V6, 6-speed, that pulled a mind-blowing 239 whp and 224 tq on a unknown dyno:

Of course, the new Accord won't be a canyon carver, but with those numbers,  Honda tuning mag imagines the parts world will catch up with tons of bolt-ons to boost those figures quickly!
