In a press release today, Honda announced that it will be debuting "a new club racer-inspired version of the Honda S2000" at the New York International Auto Show.

Geared specifically for Honda performance enthusiasts, the S2000 CR will be available as a new trim level scheduled to go on sale in the fall of 2007.

Since exact details of the vehicle's specifications have yet to be announced, we'll just have to wait for the beefier S2K to make its world debut on April 4. Until then, questions continue to linger: will this finally put to rest the rumors of the S2000 getting discontinued? Or is this Honda's way of hinting at the roadster's last hurrah?
