After suffering with some reliability problems in the past season, Honda is hoping that improving the car's reliability will help in their fight for victories in the coming F1 Season. The latest update shown below also mentions Marco Andretti's first testing in an F1 car. Could we see an American on the podium in the next few years?
Honda has enjoyed strong reliability in winter testing which enabled the team to cover some 8,000km in the past three test sessions. The team has been coping with a switch to Bridgestone tyres.
"This week we have continued our programme of understanding the Bridgestone tyres, primarily focusing on long runs," said Honda's chief engineer Mark Ellis. "Over the last three weeks, the impressive reliability of the RA106 has allowed us to complete 8000kms on the new specification tyres. This has been a successful start to our winter test campaign and also a fitting way to end the year."The team also gave Marco Andretti his first taste of F1 on Friday and Ellis was impressed, "It has been a pleasure to give Marco Andretti his first drive in a Formula One car; he approached the day in a mature and professional manner well in advance of his years and performed well."
